Kate Middleton and William ‘break norm’ with parenting style ‘unheard of’ in Royal Family
Kate Middleton and Prince William married in 2011 and had their first child two years later. A parenting expert has detailed how they “broke the norms” of royal parenting.
Kate and Prince William have adhered to some of these, such as posing for official photo calls and hiring a nanny.
Parenting expert and managing director at Kiddies Kingdom Mohammed Patel explained how the Duke and Duchess have done some things differently.
He told Express.co.uk: “In the past it would be unheard of for a royal parent to kneel down to their child at a public engagement, but showing this kind of affection to her three children has become the norm for Kate.”
He suggested the royals have used some parenting techniques which have not been publicly seen by many royals before.
DON’T MISS
Showing affection and getting down to eye level is something Kate regularly does with her children.
Doing this could be “breaking the norm” in her family, the expert continued.
He said: “When one of her children becomes distressed or upset in public, her calm and relaxed nature becomes apparent as she only has to crouch by their side to reassure them.
“As her children grow up, it’s likely Kate will treat them as equals and not tower over them as a figure to be feared.
“She strives to teach her children the importance of ‘normal life’.
“[Kate] refrains from overindulging them, despite clearly coming from a privileged background.
“She is moving away from royal traditions, creating her own style that is in line with both her own values and today’s society.
“Above all, Kate is a mother we can relate to. She is raising her children to be respectful, but most importantly, happy and loved.”
