Kate Garraway supported over ‘beautiful’ show as she talks ‘guilt’ over filming
Kate Garraway has been flooded with support over her ‘beautiful’ new show.
The Good Morning Britain star took part in new BBC Two series Walking With…. with her episode airing on Wednesday night.
It showed Kate, 54, as she went on a walk through the Cotswolds countryside by herself with a drone.
Viewers saw the TV presenter become emotional as she visited a church for the first time since her husband Derek Draper, also 54, “got sick”.

Kate went on to take in the peace by sitting alone in the quiet for a few moments, before going on to pray for her husband who remains unwell at home, telling viewers they could “likely guess what she was praying for” while holding back tears.
It was also the first time the mum-of-two had been on her own since her husband was struck by coronavirus last March which ultimately changed the family’s lives.
Opening up about shooting the documentary, Kate said that she had initially felt guilty about leaving husband Derek and children Darcey and Billy for the first time.
“It was my first day without Derek and without Darcey and Billy,” she said on GMB to Ben Shephard and Susanna Reid on Thursday after the episode aired.
“It was amazing and I felt guilty and that I shouldn’t be there.”
But Kate also said she became unwell after filming for the show.
“I actually wasn’t feeling that well after that, I found out I had a kidney infection,” she said. “But I didn’t know at the time so the BBC aren’t in any way responsible!”
Fans were quick to show their support for Kate, sharing their messages on social media after the episode aired.
“Kate it was truly beautiful. Thank you for sharing your walk & talk…” one said.
Another commented: “Wonderful to see how much you enjoyed the walk given all you’ve been through. Really felt like I was there with you, very personal and moving. Thank you for your courage to film it. Onwards and upwards Kate, we’re all with you.”
“@kategarraway What a beautiful programme Kate. So emotional #walkingwith,” a third added.
A fourth said: “A really beautiful programme Kate. Gentle and genuine. Perfectly described the simplicity and optimism of walking. Go well.”
Taking to Twitter, Kate replied to one fan’s comment and thanked everyone for their messages.
“Thanks for all your lovely comments – so glad you enjoyed it,” she said.
