Kate Garraway details ‘tough’ career move dedicated to husband Derek

Kate Garraway, 56, has announced plans to release a memoir — but says writing about her husband, Derek Draper, 55, and his long Covid recovery has been “so tough”.

The Good Morning Britain host revealed that her book will be titled: The Strength of Love: Embracing an Uncertain Future with Resilience and Optimism.

Kate took to Instagram this morning to share the news with her 1.1 million followers.

She revealed the front cover of the “positive” read, which features a portrait of the 56-year-old.

She can be seen wearing an orange blouse, a pair of cream pants, and has her blonde hair blown out.

In the caption, she said: “Hello everyone, so I have written a new book… It’s called ‘The Strength of Love’.

“I must admit it has been so tough to write but that’s because I have had to go into some of my darkest thoughts and experiences but I also wanted it to be a positive read for you too.”

She went on to say that she has so much to be grateful for in her life, and has had many people to share love with.

Regarding the subject matter, Kate stated: “This book is about Derek’s ongoing battle to take back control of his body and mind, the amazing people who have helped us along the way and how love in all its forms can pull you to the brink one moment, and lift you up the next.

“We are all learning how to deal with the vast multitude of changes we have experienced in recent times while trying to navigate through life the best way we can,” she added.

The ITV presenter continued to say that she hopes The Strength of Love will support those who are also “wrestling with these challenges” and hopes that her experiences can help her readers.

According to Waterstones, the non-fiction book is set to be “inspirational” and an “ultimately uplifting read”.

The read is set to span 320 pages and will be available to purchase from 14 September 2023.

Following the announcement, famous faces such as Myleene Klass, Susanna Reid and Richard Arnold have sent Kate their support.

Susanna wrote: “No one embodies the strength of love more than you”, while Myleene said: “Go on Kate. So proud of you x”.

Good Morning Britain’s Entertainment Editor, Richard, showed his support by posting a string of heart emojis in the comments.
