There are just some classic films that always remain on your watchlist. Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai is one of those classics featuring Hrithik Roshan and Ameesha Patel which is an all-time favourite. It has always been known that initially Kareena Kapoor Khan was supposed to be the lead opposite Hrithik in that film. As per reports, this film was supposed to be her debut and not Refugee opposite Abhishek Bachchan. There were further updates that revealed that she was replaced by Ameesha Patel after shooting for a certain portion of the film.
In an old interview with Filmfare, Kareena was quoted stating, “The film was made for Hrithik. His dad spent five hours on every frame and close-up of his, whereas not even five seconds were spent on Ameesha.” Further elaborating she said, “There are portions in the film where she has pimples and under-eye bags on her face. She just doesn’t look beautiful, but every shot of his was a dream. If I were in the film, I would have definitely got a better deal, but I still feel that the attention would have been divided between us. So, I’m glad I didn’t do the film.”
She then revealed that there were never any hard feelings between Hrithik and her after she quit the film. She shared, “I’m glad that even after I left the movie there was no problem between Hrithik and me. He’s still a good friend, I am very happy about his success and we are even working on two films together.”
The two, later on, starred together in films like Yaadein, Mujhse Dosti Karoge, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon.
