Kanye West — no longer a billionaire —shows up uninvited to Skechers offices, is quickly escorted out
After Adidas ended its longtime partnership with Kanye West because of his anti-Semitic comments, the former billionaire is going door to door to other major shoe brands.
The 45-year-old father of four paid an unplanned visit to Skechers corporate offices in Los Angeles Wednesday — much to the dismay of the company.
Skechers issued a press release after West’s visit, reiterating that he “arrived unannounced and without invitation.”
“Considering Ye was engaged in unauthorized filming, two Skechers executives escorted him and his party from the building after a brief conversation,” the statement continued.
West’s ex, Kim Kardashian, 42, worked with Skechers back in the day, but the shoe brand says it has zero plans to team up with the troubled “Donda” rapper.
Skechers is operated by a Jewish family, the Greenbergs. It’s unclear if West knew that prior to his arrival.
“We condemn his recent divisive remarks and do not tolerate antisemitism or any other form of hate speech. The company would like to again stress that West showed up unannounced and uninvited to Skechers corporate offices,” the brand’s statement closed.
The “Power” rapper’s words — including him saying he was going to go “death con 3” on Jewish people — have cost him business deals with Adidas, Gap and Balenciaga, among others.
“I can say anti-Semitic s–t and Adidas cannot drop me,” West said on the “Drink Champs” podcast earlier this month before the sportswear giant took action.
A Vogue spokesperson said the fashion bible intends to never work with him again. His wax figure has been removed from Madame Tussauds London due to his comments.
For now, Spotify will keep West’s extensive catalog on the streaming service.
