Kadarius Toney gives middle finger to Giants with Super Bowl ring on: ‘Everybody in New York’
Kadarius Toney hasn’t forgotten how his tenure with the Giants ended last season, and now that he’s a Super Bowl champion he had a message for his former team and their fans.
During an appearance on Icebox’s YouTube channel, Toney said that would have his Chiefs Super Bowl ring fitted for his middle finger “for everybody in New York.”
“Aye, this for everybody in New York right here,” Toney told the camera while flipping the bird.
“I’m gonna go to the middle of New York with my middle finger up,” said Toney later in the video. “I love trolling. They tried to troll me, I’ve got something for ’em.”
Toney’s time in the Big Apple was marred by injuries that kept him off the field and by the end there had been a pretty apparent rift between the player and the organization.
The receiver had appeared in just 12 games during his time with the Giants, never recorded a single touchdown for them and didn’t have a single receiving yard for Big Blue during the 2022 season.
The Giants eventually traded Toney to the Kansas City in October before the NFL trade deadline, where he went on to help the Chiefs win the 2023 Super Bowl over the Philadelphia Eagles.
Toney had a crucial fourth-quarter 65-yard punt return and moments before that was on the receiving end of a 5-yard touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes.
The Chiefs are expecting Toney to play a bigger role next season after getting into seven regular season games following the trade.
“Kadarius did a nice job for us,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said at the NFL owners’ meeting in March. “He came in and did what we asked. We had to rest him for a while with the hamstring, we tried to get that back and I could see where he wanted to rush things back and get back in there — he loves to play.
“We backed up and let it heal and he was good after that.”
The Chiefs’ head coach also noted that he didn’t notice any attitude issues with Toney once he arrived in Kansas City.
“He was great,” Reid said. “I don’t know all the stuff there but I just know he was great with us. He fit right in and did a nice job.”
Toney may have cleaned up his act once he got to the Chiefs, but it would be hard to imagine he won’t have any more messages for his former team if he continues to succeed in Kansas City.
