The Justice League has fought the Legion of Doom and the Suicide Squad, but in next week’s releases from DC Comics, they fight another DC super team.
The Justice League is about to war with the heroes of the future next week in DC Comics.
Leading next week’s releases is Justice League vs. The Legion of Super-Heroes #1, a six-issue event penned by writer Brian Michael Bendis with art by Scott Godlewski. The two are DC’s more recognizable ensembles that have been adapted for live-action and/or animated films and television series, with the most recent example being the Legion’s involvement in Young Justice: Phantoms on HBO Max. Though solicitations for the miniseries indicate that the League and Legion will need to join forces to stop a “great darkness” and uncover the mystery of the Gold Lanterns, the title teases that tensions will rise between the two super teams.
The event features the two groups that Bendis has experience working with, being that he was one of the creative minds behind the recent Legion of Super-Heroes run and currently works on Justice League, at least until he departs the title in March 2022. Though the latest event is the first “versus” series with the League since Justice League vs. Suicide Squad, it is not the only book releasing next week.
Aside from Titans United #5, the Bat-Family dominates DC’s upcoming releases, with Batgirls‘ second issue, Detective Comics, The Joker, I Am Batman and other titles about to hit shelves and digital platforms. Even the dystopian timeline-centered title Future State: Gotham and the tie-in series to HBO Max’s Pennyworth will drop their next issues on Tuesday.
