Julie Bishop’s surprise new job revealed

The former foreign minister has shared her next big career move in a hilarious new video with surprise Hollywood heavyweights.

Julie Bishop is rubbing shoulders with major Hollywood actors in her new role as an ambassador for a mining services company.

The former foreign minister left politics in 2019 and is now adding Strategic Adviser for Perth-based Mineral Resources Limited (MinRes) to her resume.

The 65-year-old stars in a comedic promotional video alongside Hollywood heavyweights Kate Bush and Hugh Jackman to reveal the company’s new headquarters in Perth.

The former politician spruiks a number of perks for working at MinResHQ including that the building just one of 120 around the world with a sought after platinum WELL rating – the highest certification for human wellbeing.

Ms Bishop shines in her role as a quippy handler for the stars, making quick changes from a “JBish” monogrammed robe to a sequined evening gown.

She struggles with Greys Anatomy star Kate Walsh in a company bathroom where the pair, wrapped in bath towels, fight over a hair straightener.

“No problem, we have more than one hair straightener,” she says as she hands the actor the styling tool.

“In fact, we have more than one of everything.”

In another scene featuring a board meeting with Hugh Jackman, the Aussie star makes a bizarre request of the former foreign minister.

“Hey Jules, my phone is kind of on its last legs, can you just send me a refill of lithium,” Jackman said.

“I mean seriously, how much lithium does one guy need?” Ms Bishop replies.

Bishop also takes another opportunity to show off her yoga skills with a gravity-defying headstand.

She first revealed her skills in a campaign for Vogue Australia to announce her partnership with American skincare and make-up brand Estee Lauder in May.

It’s the latest in a string of glamorous career moves since Ms Bishop first took on the role of Chancellor of the Australian National University in 2020.

She has been on the Chair Of The Board Of Directors for Prince Charles’ charity trust since 2020.

Ms Bishop has a seat on the board of professional services company Palladium, is a member of the Gender Equality Advisory Council and started her own consulting firm Julie Bishop and Partners.

Earlier this month the 65-year-old stunned in a $1390 Australian designer dress as she joined Prince Charles for a gala dinner in London.

Ms Bishop sat next to the Prince of Wales at the event, held to celebrate the efforts of those working for his network of charity organisations, the Prince’s Trust.
