Julie Anne San Jose said she disagreed with a netizen who, in commending her portrayal in “Maria Clara at Ibarra,” deemed her better than veteran actress Judy Ann Santos in terms of acting.

The actress-singer said this in response to a netizen that goes by the handle @BryanGrey18 through her Twitter page last Saturday, Jan. 21. The Twitter user appeared to have taken down the tweet but screenshots of it have already been re-uploaded on social media.

“Walang sinabi si Mara (Judy Ann Santos) kay Maria Clara (Julie Anne San Jose),” the netizen tweeted, referring to Santos’ role in the hit 1990s TV series “Mara Clara. “Si Juday magaling lang lumuha pero hindi nakakadala. Si Julie Anne tagos bawat salita! Napakahusay!”

(Judy Ann Santos’ Mara is no match to Julie Anne San Jose’s Maria Clara. Juday may be good at crying, but it does not [get hold of the viewers’ emotion], whereas Julie Anne delivers the script very well. Excellent!)

“Hello po, hindi po totoo ito,” San Jose replied. “I look up to Ms. Judy Ann, isa po siya sa pinakahinahangaan at pinapanood ko simula bata pa ako, at marami pa po ako kakaining bigas. Itigil na po natin ito. Salamat.”

(Hello, this is not true. I look up to Ms. Judy Ann, one of the actresses I admire and have been watching since I was young, and I still got a lot of rice to eat [to be compared to her]. Please stop this. Thank you.)

Fans of San Jose then showered the actress with compliments as they applauded her for her humility, through Twitter as well.
