Julian Edelman is wondering where his Tom Brady Buccaneers call is

Julian Edelman, Tom Brady’s favorite target when they were both with the Patriots, just wants to feel wanted.

Brady and his new team, the Buccaneers, are lacking depth at wide receiver for Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers. With a host of injuries and Mike Evans suspended after starting a fight with Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore in Week 2, the Bucs added free agent Cole Beasley to their practice squad, with the expectation that he could play in Week 3.

“I don’t wanna talk about this,” Edelman said on “Inside the NFL” this week. “They just signed Cole Beasley. I didn’t get a call. I bet against Brady and then he signs Cole Beasley.”

Edelman retired after the 2020 season due to a recurring knee injury and said that if he ever came out of retirement he would only play for the Patriots.

“I don’t know, we’ll see,” Edelman said when asked if he’ll return to play with Brady during an appearance at the Sunset Sports Media Festival in Zadar, Croatia in June. “That’s called a little teaser. We’ll see. We’re staying in shape but you never know. But I’d probably go back to the Patriots. I love the Patriots. Foxborough Forever.”

That hasn’t kept the rumor mill from continually churning when it comes to a Brady-Edelman reunion. Their friendship — often shown in social media jabs and in video clips — teases fans that they could give it one last hurrah.

Time is running out if that’s their end goal, however. At 45, Brady’s own retirement is expected as soon as the end of the 2022 season, at which point he has a job in Fox’s broadcast booth waiting for him.
