Jonnie Irwin’s sister has expressed how proud she is of her brother, dubbing him an ‘absolute fighter’ after his night of fun at the Tric Awards.

On Tuesday evening, the A Place In The Sun presenter, who announced last year that he’d been diagnosed with terminal cancer, made a rare public appearance at the awards ceremony, where stars including Bradley Walsh, Piers Morgan and Roman Kemp picked up some of the biggest gongs of the night.

Earlier this year, the 49-year-old shared an update on his health, revealing that he could have months to live following his stage-four lung cancer diagnosis, having disclosed in August 2020 that the cancer had spread to his brain.

Following the event, Jonnie posted a video on his Instagram showing him larking around with Escape to the Country personality Jules Hudson, writing in the caption: ‘When @thejuleshudson unbuttons the ‘2nd button’ he’s simply irresistible…’

In the clip, Jules, 53, could be heard asking if anyone wanted a drink of water, while Fleur East’s Sax was sung in the background.

Jonnie stopped Jules in his tracks, pulling him in for a hug, before turning around and saying: ‘Delicious!’

Holding each other, the TV stars beamed at the camera.

Jonnie’s big sister Amanda Irwin was among those who commented on the video, writing: ‘How do you do it little bro! What an absolute fighter! #inspiration #proudsister,’ to which he replied: ‘I do it with the support of amazing people like you. X.’

Several other people responded to Amanda’s comment, expressing their support for her, her brother and their family.

‘He is bloody amazing!! I’m heartbroken for him and all of you x,’ one person wrote.

Another said in a message directed towards Jonnie: ‘What a beautiful person you are I’ve watched you for years Jonnie so much love watching your programmes ❤️ love to you and your family.’

Someone else commented on Jonnie’s video, sharing how they related to him through their own cancer journey.

‘I have stage 4 cancer and seeing you living life to the full is wonderful. ????????,’ they said.

‘Awwwww makes my heart melt ….just love these two …keep fighting Jonnie ????????,’ another penned.
