Jon Snow: ‘No Determination’ on Whether Game of Thrones Spinoff Will Happen

While many fans were excited to hear that Jon Snow would be starring in a Game of Thrones spin-off sequel series, HBO’s head of drama Francesca Orsi has cautioned there is no guarantee the show will ever make it to the finish line.

Speaking to Deadline, Orsi was asked about the show that would see Kit Harington return to his iconic Game of Thrones role, and she said it is still in “very early stages” and a lot is left to be done to bring it to life.

“We’re just working deeply with the writers to get it in shape for potential greenlight, but at this point, no, no determination on whether it can go all the way,” Orsi said.

The Jon Snow series’ existence was reported on back in June 2022, and Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin revealed shortly after that it has a working title of ‘Snow’ and that it was all Harington’s idea.

We don’t know much about the series, but Harington did tease a bit as to what fans can expect.

“I think if you asked him, he would’ve felt he got off lightly,” Harington said. “At the end of the show when we find him in that cell, he’s preparing to be beheaded and he wants to be. He’s done. The fact he goes to the Wall is the greatest gift and also the greatest curse.

“He’s gotta go back up to the place with all this history and live out his life thinking about how he killed Dany, and live out his life thinking about Ygritte dying in his arms, and live out his life thinking about how he hung Olly, and live out his life thinking about all of this trauma, and that, that’s interesting.”

Orsi also touched upon the other Game of Thrones spin-offs in the works, and confirmed that HBO is hoping to give The Hedge Knight a three-season run and that there are still plenty of projects in the works from that universe but they are simply not ready to be discussed yet.
