John Wick 4 is not Lance Reddick’s last film with Keanu Reeves’ hitman
Lance Reddick was in the middle of the John Wick Chapter 4 press tour when news of his death from natural causes shocked the film industry. The 60-year-old played Charon, the concierge at the Continental Hotel in New York, in the first four movies of the action franchise. However, the latest film opposite Keanu Reeves is not his last, since he completed filming on a fifth.
No, it wasn’t John Wick Chapter 5 but Ballerina. The official spin-off within the franchise takes place between the events of Chapters 3 and 4. Ana de Armas plays Rooney, a ballerina-assassin who was previously played by Unity Phelan in the third movie. Joining her in the film that was shot in Prague at the end of last year are some very familiar faces.
Not only is Reddick in Ballerina for his final time as Charon, but also Ian McShane’s Winston Scott, Anjelica Huston’s The Director and even Reeves’ Wick. The spin-off has been in post-production since February although a release date is yet to be announced and our best bet would be Spring 2024. On top of this, there’s a John Wick prequel spin-off miniseries coming too that will also feature Charon.

The Continental, which is three episodes long, is set during the 1970s and tells the story of how Winston Scott became the proprietor of the assassins’ hotel where no “business” may take place on its premises. The John Wick prequel will explore historical events including the Great Garbage Strike and the Mafia’s rise to economic power.
Colin Woodell plays young Winston opposite Mel Gibson’s Cormac. Meanwhile, a younger version of Charon will be portrayed by Ayomide Adegun. The miniseries was shot in November 2021 and no release date has been announced as of yet.
John Wick Chapter 4 hits cinemas on Friday.
