Joel Glazer to hold crunch Man Utd talks today to discuss sacking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Manchester United managing director Richard Arnold has cancelled all appointments to hold crunch talks with owner Joel Glazer on Monday, according to reports. The pair are set to discuss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s future following Sunday’s 5-0 defeat to Liverpool.
The Guardian’s Jamie Jackson reports ex-Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is open to replacing Solskjaer at United, should the club dismiss him.
Solskjaer has a good relationship with the current squad, but several players are now questioning whether he is the right man to take them forward.
Despite being well-liked throughout the club, Sunday’s humiliating loss has produced a lack of belief in his tactical capabilities.
In the latest update, Arnold has prioritised an emergency meeting with Glazer as the pressure mounting on Solskjaer nears its climax.
JUST IN: Antonio Conte wants Man Utd ‘assurances’ to replace Solskjaer as boss
ESPN’s Mark Ogden has chimed in with more information, making it clear that Solskjaer has lost a large portion of the dressing room.
The Norwegian boss had already lost the faith of a ‘sizeable’ number of his players before the Liverpool game, and his support is primarily limited to United’s core of British players.
Solskjaer’s reluctance to give players like Jesse Lingard, Donny van de Beek and Nemanja Matic a chance, his struggles to solve defensive frailties and ‘favouritism of under-performers have led to players criticising him while away on international duty.
Senior players have also been calling for more tactical direction, and there is growing frustration over his lack of authority on United’s misfiring forwards.
