Joe Russo to direct Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden starrer Citadel 2

The second season of Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden starrer Citadel has been renewed. On Thursday, the OTT platform behind the series made an announcement regarding the renewal of the global hit series Citadel for season two with Joe Russo set to direct each episode and executive producer David Weil serving as the showrunner.

This announcement comes almost after a month since the release of the first season. The series revolves around Nadia Sinh (Priyanka Chopra), a spy agent who is dead as per the records. However, she is alive with all of her memories wiped out. She is forced to remember all the details to help her save the world along with Mason Kane (Richard Madden).

In an official statement, the makers of Citadel, studio head Jennifer Stalke stated, “Citadel is a truly global phenomenon. We always aimed to create a new franchise rooted in original IP that would grow (the platforms) international audience. Its massive worldwide debut audience is a testament to Joe and Anthony Russo’s remarkable vision, the incredible talents of Richard Madden, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Lesley Manville, and Stanley Tucci, and the tireless work of the creative teams, cast, and crew.”

Citadel also features Stanley Tucci, Lesley Manville, Osy Ikhile, Ashleigh Cummings, Roland Moller, Caoilinn Springall, and others who appeared in supporting roles.

Meanwhile, the Indian instalment of the series is helmed by the director duo Raj & DK and stars Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Varun Dhawan in lead roles.
