Jets’ James Robinson now questionable to play against Bills
There might be more to running back James Robinson’s injured knee than he originally let on.
Robinson’s availability for his second game with the Jets is in doubt as he was added to an updated injury report after Saturday’s walkthrough. He is listed as questionable to play Sunday against the Bills.
In his first game after an Oct. 24 trade from the Jaguars, Robinson rushed five times for 17 yards in the Jets’ loss to the Patriots. When asked Friday if Robinson could have a bigger role with the benefit of another week to get acclimated to a new offense, head coach Robert Saleh said, “Hopefully he gets involved a little bit more, but we’ll see how the game plays out.”
Robinson was not listed on the first three injury reports of the week. He joined the Jets after playing just 12 snaps (zero carries) in his final game under Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson, who later said “knee soreness” was the reason for the former starter’s reduced role behind Travis Etienne.
Coming off a torn Achilles last December, Robinson hasn’t missed a game this season and played at least 22 snaps in each of the first six games. Asked about Pederson’s “knee soreness” comment in his first interview after the trade, Robinson said “there’s going to be soreness” in the knee but nothing abnormal.
The Jets already are without starting rookie leading rusher Breece Hall (torn ACL). Fill-in starter Michael Carter, Ty Johnson and undrafted rookie Zonovan Knight are the other three backs on the active roster.
