The former Little Mix star, who scored a top 10 hit with her debut solo single Boyz in 2021, hasn’t managed to reach the heights this time around after Bad Thing wasn’t included in the Official Singles Chart Top 100.
As of the time of publication, the track is sitting on 424,000 views of its music video – which centres around an abusive relationship – on YouTube and just under 426,000 streams on Spotify.
Meanwhile Lewis Capaldi, who has scored his fifth UK number one with Wish You the Best – released on the same day – has over 9.8million streams on Spotify and more than 3.1m views of the official music video on YouTube.
Boyz managed number four for Jesy back in October 2021, which came out during the 31-year-old’s record deal with Polydor.
In her days with Little Mix, she racked up five UK number one singles, including Wings and Black Magic, and a whopping 19 top 10 tracks overall.
In July 2022, the singer parted ways with the label after ‘failing to agree on new music’.
‘Polydor have amicably parted ways with Jesy,’ the label explained in a statement issued to Metro.co.uk.
‘We have enjoyed working with her and everyone at the label wishes her nothing but the best for the future.’
Meanwhile, music insiders told The Sun that Jesy walked away from her label to make a fresh start.
‘She and the label have been going in different directions in recent months. And while there hasn’t been a fall-out, Jesy just felt it was better to start afresh now – while everyone was still friends,’ they told the outlet.
‘Jesy enjoyed her time with Polydor – but feels, rather than go on together while having such differing musical ideas for the future, she now wants to be able to fully develop her own ideas as an individual artist.’
‘There’s things I’ve written on there that I’ve never spoken about, I’ve poured my heart and soul into this,’ she shared.
‘I just hope you love it as much as I do and the people that have worked just as hard on it with me,’ she added alongside a love heart emoji.
Jesy left Little Mix at the end of 2020, citing her mental health and the pressure of being in a band.
She was recently seen in tears as she took to social media after reports of a ‘feud’ with her bandmates – who she confirmed she hadn’t spoken to in two years – took the spotlight over her new single.
She claimed a falling out with Perrie Edwards, 29, Jade Thirlwall, 30, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock, 31, was non-existent.
‘I said no we haven’t spoke for two years but I honestly wish them all the best, we’re all on our solo journeys, it’s such an exciting time for us all right now,’ she revealed on gher Instagram Stories.
‘Honestly, that was all I said. That one “no we haven’t spoke for two years” then gets put in every headline, on the front of the newspaper that there’s this ongoing feud – and it’s just f***ing b*****t because I just feel like women just get pitted up against each other 24/7 in music and I hate it.’
The star also slammed it as ‘really frustrating’ that talking about ‘something that’s really close to your heart and means something to me is then taken out of context.’
