Jessie J has remembered her late bodyguard Dave with a heartfelt tribute on the third anniversary of his death.

The Do It Like A Dude singer revealed Dave had died on December 28, 2018, but a cause of death was not given at the time.

In her latest Instagram post, Jessie, 33, shared a throwback photo of her and Dave singing and laughing with each other backstage at a live show.

She explained in the caption: ‘3 years ago today would of been your last day here with us on earth • There hasn’t been a day since, that I haven’t thought about you.

‘This video is how I remember us. Thank you for being a goofball with me for so many years. You let your guard down with me and I’m so grateful for that. You were so special D. You protected me like no one ever has. Held my hand through all turbulence and would always be down for a walk in the rain to talk after shows.’

She added: ‘You got me through my darkest days. I just wish I could of got you through yours.’

Describing Dave as the ‘big brother I never had’, Jessie pleaded with her late friend to ‘keep visiting’ her.

‘I love you family,’ she concluded.

Jessie then followed up with a clip of her singing an unreleased ballad, titled I’ll Never Know Why, which she wrote specifically for Dave.

The Domino singer revealed that Dave’s family asked her to share the song in his memory.

‘Daves sister and son were watching my live the other night, and asked me to play a little bit of the song I wrote for him. It’s still the demo from the day I wrote it, but I wanted to share it for them ????,’ Jessie wrote.

She added: ‘I pray this song helps people that need it the way it has me.

‘And if you are someone that thinks no one wants you here. Trust me they do. You are loved.’

Announcing his death three years ago, Jessie remembered Dave as a dedicated family man and revealed how he had worked with her for four years.

Sharing fond memories, she wrote at the time: ‘When you would text me when I was filming The Voice on the breaks to make me laugh. The late night walks we would take together to get some air. Who would shout “banana” quickest.

‘When you came to see me when I was in hospital to cheer me up and I was out of it on anaesthetic and we again just laughed. You were so worried about me. You looked after me.’

She continued: ‘The way we laughed. I keep going back to that. We had so much fun Dave. Your love for working out. The way you would eat your meals and I would always wish I could be so disciplined. I am now. You inspired me. Your love for your dogs. Your love for tattoos.

‘Your love for travelling. Your gentleness. Your voice. The way you stuck by me when everyone else left. It was me and you in Aus. You were my rock [sic].’

It’s been a difficult year for Jessie, who shared that she had miscarried a baby following a private pregnancy in November.
