Under-fire boss Jesse Marsch knows he must stop Leeds’ slide down the Premier League after fans called for him to be sacked following a 1-0 loss at Nottingham Forest.

Leeds were the better side in the first half but missed a number of chances at the City Ground before Brennan Johnson’s goal made it seven games without a win.

They are only out of the relegation zone on goal difference and that run looks unlikely to improve in the next week with a quickfire double-header against Manchester United.

Some supporters have had enough of the American and chanted for him to go but Marsch is determined to turn things around.

‘It is my responsibility and I understand their frustration and I accept it,’ Marsch said. ‘I have to find a way to turn a lot of the good things that are happening into results or we find ourselves in a stressful situation.

‘It’s a big week, it is a huge week. Internally we have belief here, we do. The players are all in, they have given everything, we are young and we are trying to put it together.’

Forest continued their recent revival and have now pulled six points clear of the relegation zone. Manager Steve Cooper admitted his side were not at their best and praised former Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas, signed on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, for helping the hosts to the three points on his debut.

‘He was brilliant in the first half, outstanding and composed,’ he said.
