Jeremy Vine was on the recieving end of a foul slur when he attempted to speak to a motorist who had a near-miss with a fellow cyclist.
The BBC Radio 2 host was cycling in Fulham, west London, when he witnessed the van supposedly being too far across the road that it nearly collided with the cyclist.
Jeremy shouted: “Woah, wow,” and turned to speak to the driver.
However, the motorist sped off and shouted “f*** off” – as a passerby said to Jeremy: “It’s alright boss, you’re in the right.”
He joked in return: “He seems like the sort of guy who might not come to my birthday party.”

The presenter often shares his experience of cycling on London roads via a camera he wears on his helmet.
He posted this clip to Twitter last night and captioned it: “Crikey. I was about to have a word with this van driver, and then decided I quite fancied getting home alive.”
The video instantly got shared around the social media site and so far has 110,000 views.
Another tweeted: “I view myself as primarily a cyclist (commute to work by bike too). But I also own and drive an LWB [long wheelbase] van like this.
“There are many junctions where it’s impossible to get around a bend on your own side. However, of course, a driver needs to be aware of oncoming road users and yield.”
A third said: “Longer vehicles like this van sometimes need to use both sides of the road when making turns otherwise it would be impossible to make the turn without mounting the kerb or clipping the corner.
“Granted the driver should make sure both sides are clear before making the turn.”
Another wrote: “Lovely lads though.”
Jeremy responded: “Yes, absolutely.”
