Jeremy Clarkson sparks feud with Carol Vorderman over ‘shouty’ rant

Earlier this week, Carol Vorderman, 62, appeared before ministers to speak about menopause and the workplace and took to the opportunity by calling out two ministers in particular, saying she was “absolutely disgusted” by their behaviour. In his latest opinion column for The Sun, Jeremy Clarkson, 62, lambasted the media personality, sparking a feud as Carol smacked back over Twitter on Sunday morning.

She sarcastically wrote: “Well well. The known defender of women’s rights Jeremy Clarkson has a go at a woman again.”

In his column, the former Top Gear presenter argued that Carol may not have meant what she said when she described being “absolutely disgusted” at the ministers and was instead only “mildly irritated”.

Carol assured that this was not the case as she continued: “Jeremy love, if I am disgusted at MPs fibbing and not turning up as they are meant to do, then I’ll be ‘disgusted’.

“Glad you used a nice photo tho or I might have been ‘mildly irritated’.”

The tweet went viral, garnering hundreds and thousands of views within four hours and countless comments continuing the debate and inciting the feud between the two stars.

Actress Denise Welch weighed in on the conflict saying: “What an absolute tool he is.”

Fan BillieJoeMcAll1 added: “‘Woman has opinions and I don’t like it’ … says professional opinion holder in opinion piece.”

However, some did side with Jeremy as Beetleman78 wrote to Carol: “I remember when you were just famous for numbers now you’re sticking your ore into everything to keep you in the spotlight very sad!”

In Jeremy’s column, the tv personality claimed Carol has “re-invented herself” as an “anti-Tory, anti-sleaze warrior”.

While he claimed “that’s fine”, Jeremy revealed he had one problem with her transition saying she had “become awfully shouty”.

He wrote: “Having not got her way in a debate about the menopause this week, she said she had been ‘absolutely disgusted’ by the attitude of two lady MPs.

“That’s a bit strong, because if you’re ‘absolutely disgusted’ by someone who disagrees with you about the menopause, then how do you describe your feelings towards a Russian soldier who’s just lobbed a hand grenade into a school?”

He noted that in comparison perhaps Carol found the MPs just “mildly irritating”.

Carol had been in Westminster appearing before the Women and Equalities Committee during a hearing about menopause.

In a previous hearing, Equalities Minister Kemi Badenoch dismissed suggestions that menopause should be given legally protected status and noted it was on a long list of characteristics that campaigners requested be written into the Equality Act.

The MP shared some of the other characteristics included having ginger hair or being short.

Carol, who is a patron of the group Menopause Mandate declared these statements were “patronising” and “insulting to all women”.
