‘Jeopardy!’ producer wants fans to ‘forget’ this moment: ‘Something you never like to see’

Who is … I don’t know?

Jeopardy!” producer Sarah Foss dished about last week’s games with champion Buzzy Cohen on the “Inside: Jeopardy!podcast this week – and tried to skirt past an unfortunate statistic that plagued some players.

“One thing not so great about this game – and actually (contestants) Kristine and Colette joked about in the postgame chat – they were really hoping that they wouldn’t go viral for leaving so much money on the board,” Foss said on the podcast while recapping an episode.

Foss said a whopping 23 questions went unanswered by all three players. “In this game – this has to be a record – 23 triple-stumpers. And it’s something you never like to see.”

“It’s the last game before lunch,” Cohen added. “Maybe everyone’s a little sleepy or something, little hungry. But yeah, that’s a tough stat to to carry with you.”

Foss assured listeners that she’s “seen nothing going viral about it. So it’s not going to go viral. We mentioned it briefly here on the pod.”

“We’ll forget it ever happened,” Cohen interjected. Foss reiterated: “Well forget it ever happened.”

While some clues are evidently harder than others, sometimes they’re very easy and leave viewers frustrated when only one contestant (or none) can solve them.

In a February episode, host Ken Jennings read aloud a clue in the National Parks category: “It’s named for a river indigenous people called Mi tse a-da-zi, translated by French-speaking trappers as ‘Pierre Jaune.'”

And here’s an extra hint: The answer is in the clue.

Still, that seemed lost on contestants Lauren Donegan and Stephen Webb, who wrote question marks for their answers. The third contestant, Will Travis, correctly answered “What is Yellowstone?”

Fans took to Twitter to deem the episode’s Final “Jeopardy!” an easy clue, since “Pierre Jaune” translates to “Yellow Stone” in English.
