Jaya overwhelmed by help after house burned down in US: ‘We’re humbled by this experience’
Jaya has nothing but gratitude to those who extended support to her family, after their house in the United States got damaged by fire due to electrical issues.
The singer detailed how the incident happened minutes after she and her daughter Sabriya came home from the airport last Aug. 7 (U.S. time), as per Jaya’s Instagram page today, Aug. 15.
“Thank God, my husband Gary calmly took control and [led] us to safety. Our son Gavin helped big time as well, but lost all of his possessions, but miraculously, his Bible, wallet [and] passport were untouched by fire!” she stated. “The main [three] bedrooms and some parts of the house didn’t really [burn], which was crazy because the fire was so huge and all over!”
Right after the fire, Jaya received help from her neighbors who comforted her and her family, and provided them with necessities including shoes, clothes and water.
Jaya then expressed admiration to her husband and three kids, who are coping from the incident by supporting each other despite feeling afraid and helpless. The singer also thanked her friends and loved ones both from the U.S. and Philippines whose “love, kind and inspiring words are so overwhelming.”
“We are tired, fatigued, heartbroken but not defeated. We still catch ourselves cry in secret, but we are alright,” she said. “We are humbled by this experience. Now we know not to take anything for granted. We now move forward, one day at a time.”
“Thank God we still have work that can help keep our minds busy. We will continue to love, live, laugh, sing, dance, create new memories [and] remain hopeful,” she added.
Jaya, who moved to the U.S. with her family in July last year, earlier announced that they are leaving their destroyed home and starting their “adventure” of finding a new place to live in. JB
