Jasmine Curtis-Smith may have worked with many leading men through the years, but she considers Rocco Nacino, her onscreen partner in the Philippine adaptation of the hit K-drama “Descendants of the Sun,” as her favorite.

Curtis-Smith made this revelation during the “Fast Talk” portion of the talk show “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” which aired last Monday, March 27, when she was asked about her favorite leading man.

“Favorite leading man?” TV host Boy Abunda asked, to which the Kapuso star answered that it was Nacino.

The actress also revealed that her favorite GMA project was “Descendants of the Sun,” which was adapted from the K-drama starring Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo. Kapuso actors Dingdong Dantes and Jennylyn Mercado took part in the teleserye as the leads.

In the local adaptation, Curtis-Smith starred as Lieutenant Moira Defensor, based on the original character First Lieutenant Yoon Myung-ju, which was played by Korean actress Kim Ji-won.

Nacino, on the other hand, took on the role of Technical Sergeant Diego Ramos in reference to Jin Goo’s character, Master Sergeant Seo Dae-young.

Dealing with bashers

During the interview, the “Transit” star also spoke about dealing with negative comments, which may come aplenty especially to someone who’s active in the entertainment industry.

“Itong last 10 years, ‘yung evolution ng social media, gaano natin siya ginagamit sa trabaho. Mahirap iwasan na hindi basahin ang mga comments na hindi mo gusto, na hindi ka gusto. Pero kailangan mo lang din intindihin that these are personal opinions and I have my personal opinions about people. So, minsan, ayoko din sa mga ibang tao, pero hindi ko rin natu-tweet,” she said.

(For the last 10 years, social media has evolved so much to the point that we would even use it in our jobs. It’s hard to avoid negative comments, especially if they come from people who don’t like you. But you have to understand that these are personal opinions and I have my personal opinions about people. So sometimes, I don’t like other people as well, but I don’t tweet about it.)

Curtis-Smith also noted that mastering “the art of dedma,” which she learned from her sister, seasoned actress-model Anne Curis, helped her in dealing with negative comments throughout her career.

“Brush it off [lang], laging sinasabi ni Ate [Anne Curtis] noon, learn the art of dedma, which is not easy to learn kung sensitive kang tao. Pero it’s a muscle na kailangan mo lang i-exercise every day, especially kapag nabasa mo na ‘yung ayaw mong mabasa,” she added.

(Just brush it off. Like what my Ate Anne Curtis always says, learn the art of being unbothered. It’s not easy to learn, especially if you’re a sensitive person. But it’s a muscle you need to exercise every day, especially if you read something you don’t want to read.)

Curtis-Smith recently took on the role of Fairy in the horror film “In My Mother’s Skin,” which premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival. She was joined by Kapuso star Beauty Gonzalez and Felicity Napuli.

The actress also portrayed Emilia Libradilla-Asuncion in the GMA teleserye “The World between Us,” which starred Alden Richards and Jaclyn Jose.  /ra
