Janette Manrara ‘wishes she had been kinder’ to Aljaz as pair speak out on disagreement
Janette Manrara and Aljaz Skorjanec said compromises and kindness are good traits to have in a marriage, as the couple gushed about their upcoming 10-year anniversary. The dancing duo told their podcast listeners that they are still the best of friends all those years later, as they discussed the kind things they do for one another.
“Kindness shows grace, it shows understanding, it shows support, it shows comfort, all those words kind of fall beneath the umbrella of the word kindness,” 37-year-old Janette said.
Reflecting on their relationship, the dancer went on to say there were moments in their marriage where she wished she had been kinder.
Laughing, she asked if her spouse agreed, to which he reassured her he didn’t.
“Thank you for going first,” he joked.

Janette replied: “I was hoping you’d follow me on that one.”
The Miami-born dancer went on to say that kindness “wasn’t just a pretty hashtag” on social media, but something that needed to be implemented.
She added: “One of the biggest things I think in our marriage is, we really really try and be kind to each other.
“Kindness is about friendship as well and you and I as husband and wife feel like we’ve got a friendship,” she continued, to which Aljaz agreed.
“That is a big statement,” his wife chimed in, seemingly stunned.
Elaborating on his point, he said those who publish unkind comments online are not necessarily going to be held accountable, but probably would in real life.
“Who are we giving freedom of speech to, to the computers?”, he questioned.
Janette added: “I think we slightly disagree on this.”
“We disagree to agree a lot,” her husband replied.
“It’s why we came up with the name Twist and Shout,” Janette joked.
The Strictly dancers met through their love of dance and tied the knot in 2017.
Earlier this year, they opened up about baby plans in the future.
Janette said lockdown and being separated from her husband during Strictly 2020 made her realise how much of a “team” they are.
She added they are “more than ready” to have a baby, because “we really, really do love and support each other”.
“I think Aljaž is going to be the most incredible dad!
“So that’s kind of the realisation that we both made that when the time is right we are going to be more than ready,” she added on Loose Women.
