Jane Seymour turns down partner’s proposal after four failed marriages
Jane Seymour has been happily committed to partner David Green for more than eight years but has revealed she feels no desire to marry him.
After four failed marriages, she can’t stand the thought of “putting a number” on his name, and is enjoying life as an independent woman.
“He did [propose, but] I just said I would never put a number on his name. It would be the most horrible thing in the world,” she admitted in a new interview.
Talking to The Times, she also made the surprise revelation that she still has a close friendship with all her previous partners, in spite of the fact that three of them cheated on her.
“I’m still very, very close to all the men I was married to and every man I ever dated, to be honest,” she mused.

“Every time I see someone I used to be involved with, even if it was for a short time, I’m close to them. You see, I think it’s hard to be with somebody who’s well-known and on the red carpet,” Jane clarified.
She has claimed to have had some harrowing past experiences with men, including an attempted sexual assault by a producer who was auditioning her for a role decades earlier.
The experience left the bewildered actress “trembling” and “shaking with fear” – and the worst was yet to come, as she later lost her lucrative Broadway role in Amadeus due to pregnancy.
Jane also lost out on the lead role in the 1983 mini-series The Thorn Birds as she was breastfeeding – but despite these experiences, Jane always enjoyed family life and still says she “loves men”.
That said, over the years the 72-year-old has become more independent and self-reliant, perhaps being influenced by the norms of modern feminism.

The former Bond Girl has been happily loved up with her producer boyfriend for almost a decade, but that doesn’t mean she takes orders from him.
In an interview published in the Mirror last year, she explained that she’s committed to living life on her “own terms”.
“I always deferred to my husband for advice, even though it was my career and I was earning money,” she reflected, “[but] what I’ve learnt since the last divorce is that I can do it myself.
“So life changed a lot nine years ago, and I’m a lot more like my character, Harry,” she added in a reference to her role in the detective series Harry Wild.
“I run my own life, I run my own businesses, I produce my own movies and make my own choices,” she declared, while also acknowledging she feels “very fortunate to have a partner who is super-smart”.
