Scream Queen Jamie Lee Curtis is sticking with the horror genre for her latest enterprise which she debuted at San Diego Comic-Con.
On Friday, the Oscar-winning actress appeared at the event to showcase her upcoming horror graphic novel Mother Nature.
The 64-year-old movie legend delighted the packed crowd as she explained how her husband – 75-year-old English actor and director Christopher Guest – had encouraged her to pursue her ambitions for the story.
Admitting that the environmentally themed tome, which was co-written with Russell Goldman, while Karl Stevens illustrated, is dark she told the audience: “Of course, I had some gruesome deaths because I have a very dark mind.”
Explaining that the themes feel more timely than ever, she said: “We’re f****** the world!
“We need to do better. There is a possibility of change, but we are going to have to do it,” she declared according to Entertainment Weekly.
Her appearance came in the midst of the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike. SAG-AFTRA has prohibited its members from promoting its film and TV projects.
Jamie, who’s been an avid supporter of the writers, was only allowed to attend because she was deemed a comic book author.
Following the panel she took to her Instagram page and shared her support for the strikers with her 5.4 million follower posting a photo of the union logo.
“What a thrilling day! @sdcomic_con @titancomics @karlstevensart @russell_goldman @sagaftra,’ she wrote in the caption.
She later gave her fans and followers a more in depth look at the illustrations in the book by sifting through the pages in a video she posted.
With Comic-Con season in full swing and thousands of people across the world looking forward to meeting their movie and TV heroes, organisers have had to address the ongoing issue of the strikes.
Dublin Comic-Con, which is set to welcome guests such as Terminator star Linda Hamilton and Buffy the Vampire Slayer star James Marsters next month took to social media to explain how the strikes will affect cons.
They explained that the guidelines do not prevent guests from attending cons and they can take part in panels.
However, guests are restricted to talking about themselves, their hobbies and other non-work related topics.
Work they have done or are scheduled to do from struck companies is restricted.
