Jamia Millia Islamia to organise grand Centenary Year Convocation – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is set to celebrate its Centenary Year Convocation on July 23, 2023, at Vigyan Bhawan. The convocation ceremony will honour the students who graduated in the Academic Years 2019 and 2020. The distinguished Chief Guest for the occasion will be the Vice President of India, Mr Jagdeep Dhankhar, while the convocation will be chaired by the Union Education Minister, Mr Dharmendra Pradhan.
To extend the invitation and seek his participation as the Chairperson of the Centenary Year Convocation, JMI Vice Chancellor, Prof. Najma Akhtar (Padma Shri), personally met with Mr Pradhan. Graciously, the Minister accepted the invitation, reflecting his keen interest in the university’s progress.
During the meeting, Prof. Akhtar expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble Minister for granting her an audience and took the opportunity to highlight JMI’s recent accomplishments and remarkable achievements. It was evident that the Hon’ble Minister was already well-informed about the university’s feats and achievements, showcasing his special interest in JMI. Additionally, Prof. Akhtar shared her proposal for the establishment of a medical college at JMI, underscoring the university’s commitment to expanding its academic offerings.
The Centenary Year Convocation holds significant importance as it marks a milestone in JMI’s rich history. The presence of esteemed dignitaries, including the Vice President and the Union Education Minister, further enhances the significance of the event and showcases the recognition and support that JMI receives at the national level.
