Jamia Hamdard organises dialogue on media and its impact on society & democracy – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Centre for Media and Mass Communication Studies, Jamia Hamdard hosted a event aiming to provide a platform for critical examination and dialogue on the media industry and its impact on society and democracy.
The event was led by keynote speaker Dr. Anurag Batra, Chairman & Editor-in-Chief of Businessworld and founder of the Exchange4media Group, and he focused on the transition of traditional media to digital media and its impact on the industry.
Prof. Farhat Basir Khan, in his introductory address, emphasized the significance of the promoting transparency and ethical standards in the media industry and strengthening the democratic process.
Dr. Batra shared his experiences in the media industry and the importance of media literacy and promoting transparency and ethical standards. He also discussed the impact of technology on the media industry. With statistics showing that 85,000 crore was spent on advertising in the media, with 38% coming from television and 18% from digital media, Dr. Batra emphasized the significance of the media industry. He also discussed the essential skills for success in the media industry, including curiosity, personality, and the ability to think.
Prof. Farhat Basir Khan appreciated the visionary and Dynamic Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Hamdard Professor (Dr.) M Afshar Alam, and Registrar, Mr Syed Saud Akhtar for their support in making such initiatives possible. He expressed his gratitude to Prof. Reshma Nasreen, Director of the Centre of Media & Mass Communication Studies for her support. The series was conceptualized, curated and organized by distinguished Prof. Farhat Basir Khan.
