James Martin detailed moment he put thief in a ‘headlock’ after mugging at cash point
James Martin is best known for his culinary skills and tasty recipes which are featured in his self-titled ITV show Saturday Morning. Proving he’s just as affable off-screen as he appears on, the TV chef previously opened up about an alarming incident he witnessed where he came to a stranger’s rescue.
The 49-year-old explained that the mugging took place in his younger years, and saw him hold the suspects down.
The details come after the ITV chef was quizzed on the last time he threw a punch at someone.
James revealed the incident took place over two decades ago while walking through London’s Oxford Street.
The small-screen star added that he acted in self-defence after one of the muggers had hit him first.

James tweeted: “A massive thanks to all who voted. I’m very surprised and honoured. Thank you! Congrats to all the other winners and all involved too!”
More than 13,000 people placed their votes to crown their favourite chef, with James coming out on top.
The chef bagged two awards, including Most Influential Chef, Cook or Food Writer, and the second was Best Cookbook, awarded to James Martin’s Great British Adventure: A celebration of Great British food.
