Jackass star Bam Margera located and picked up after ‘fleeing rehab’
Jackass star Bam Margera has reportedly been located and picked up after he was reported missing.
The star had reportedly ‘fled’ a Florida rehab facility.
Margera, 42, was found at a hotel in Delray Beach and was picked up by the police and a crisis intervention team, TMZ reports.
The outlet adds that he went back to the rehab faciliy voluntarily.
Margera was said to have been missing after the star, who allegedly wasn’t authorised to leave the treatment centre, told the manager he was unhappy with the facilities and would be checking into rehab elsewhere.
It’s claimed in a Delray Beach police report, cited by TMZ, the manager stated Margera went missing on Monday.
The website reported Margera – who completed a one-year inpatient rehab program in May – left the centre in a black SUV to check in at another facility.
He was alleged to be there under a court order, with rehab staff ‘concerned he seemed to be leaving without authorisation’.
Despite the reports, Margera had been active on his social media, having shared a photo to his Instagram Stories, taken several years ago, on Tuesday which saw the TV star alongside his wife, Nicole, as well as Machine Gun Kelly, who, coincidentally, performed in Florida on Tuesday evening.
Margera also shared a photo alongside his ‘new Alcoholics Anonymous sponsor’, credited as Dominick, with the pair embracing and fist-bumping.
Both were beaming in the photo, with Margera writing: ‘MMA fighter, chiropractor and ten years sober Dominick, is my new AA sponsor.????????’
Margera – who later said he was seeking help for manic bipolar disorder – had claimed Jackass co-founders Tremaine and Knoxville made him ‘jump through hoops’ before he left the production.
He said: ‘My family – Jackass – has betrayed me, rejected me, abandoned me. Not all of them. I love all of them and they love me back. But specifically Jeff Tremaine and Johnny Knoxville.
‘So I feel like my family has f**king done everything horrible to me and made me jump on hoops and walk through eggshells—which is impossible – and strung me along like a f**king puppet to get the $5 million I usually get when I make a movie with them because Jeff Tremaine and CKY has started it.’
Knoxville recently addressed the situation with Margera and noted when members of the Jackass family are struggling everyone tries to help, but that ‘at the end of the day, that person has to want help’.
He added in an interview with GQ: ‘We want Bam to be happy and healthy and get the help he needs. We tried to push that along. I think that’s all I really want to say about it.’
Fellow Jackass member Steve-O also addressed Margera’s previous comments and defended Tremaine and Knoxville, praising them for helping organise an intervention during his battle with severe substance abuse.
He said to his co-star: ‘Everyone bent over backwards to get you in the movie, and all you had to do was not get loaded.
‘You’ve continued to get loaded, it’s that simple. We all love you every bit as much as we all say we do, but nobody who really loves you can enable or encourage you to stay sick.’
