Jack Grealish says Bernardo Silva ‘looks homeless’ as Man City ace leads chant
Jack Grealish poked fun at Bernardo Silva by telling the Portuguese maestro that he looked ‘homeless’ as Manchester City’s players celebrated their historic treble in the city on Monday evening. The newly-crowned European kings sealed their monumental achievement by beating Inter Milan in the Champions League final over the weekend, which followed their recent triumphs in the Premier League and the FA Cup.
An open-top bus parade was planned for Monday evening to allow City fans to celebrate with their heroes in Manchester, with thousands of people lining the streets to catch a glimpse of the greatest team in the club’s long history. The parade was initially scheduled to begin at 6.30pm but was delayed by 30 minutes until 7.00pm due to the threat of bad weather.
Grealish was captured on video speaking in front of his fellow City players at an on-stage event earlier on Monday and was quick to aim a friendly dig at Silva, who the former Aston Villa man has struck up a close relationship with during his time at the Etihad Stadium.
“Listen, honestly, there’s one person in this team that I absolutely adore,” began Grealish. “And he looks homeless! His name is Bernardo Silva. So can we just sing one song for him, please?”

Grealish then wheeled out a large speaker and began to lead the room in chanting Silva’s name as a group of fans in attendance joined in with the festivities. It marked the second time in as many years that Grealish had publicly dug out Silva, who he famously claimed was ‘miles off it’ when City wrapped up last season’s Premier League title with a final-day victory over Aston Villa.
He said: “I said earlier on the coach, it’s been brilliant to win my first title. I want to thank everyone, but the main person I want to thank is Bernardo Silva for coming off in the 70th minute because he was miles off it yesterday.”
Grealish, who joined City from Villa for a nine-figure fee in the summer of 2021, played the entire 90 minutes in the Champions League final on Saturday as Rodri’s second-half winner claimed the spoils for Pep Guardiola’s side on a historic night in Istanbul. The England ace struggled to find the right words during his post-match interview with BT Sport and looked to have been fighting tears at one point while discussing his love for his family.
“I played so dead today, I was awful,” he candidly admitted. “I don’t care though. Honestly, to win the treble with this group of players and this staff, it’s so special. Anyone that knows me knows how much of a family person I am and how much I love football and I don’t know, this is what I’ve worked for my whole life.
“You think back to all the people that have helped you along the way and just seeing my family in the crowd there, it just makes me emotional.”
