ITV’s The Games fans are all in agreement about Jermaine Jenas
ITV’s brand new week-long sports entertainment programme The Games came to a conclusion on Friday evening. Throughout the five primetime episodes, 12 celebrities have tested their abilities across a variety of sporting events, including the hurdles, diving and cycling.
Going into the final episode, singer-songwriter Chelcee Grimes had a commanding position in the women’s overall leaderboard, leading Mel B’s daughter, Phoenix Chi Gulzar, by six points. It was more competitive on the men’s side with Love Island’s Wes Nelson heading the pack on 33 points, two ahead of actor Ryan Thomas and five clear of Harry Potter star Josh Herdman.
Throughout the week, tension between Phoenix and Chelcee had continued to rise, coming to boiling point when chaos reigned in the cycling, causing a heated argument between the pair. The first event of the concluding episode saw Phoenix triumph against Chelcee in the sport climbing, while Wes edged out Josh in the thrilling men’s final.

Prior to the weightlifting competition, hosts Holly Willoughby and Freddie Flintoff introduced guests Daley Thompson and Jermaine Jenas. While viewers were thrilled to see decathlon legend Thompson make an appearance, people were less enthused by Jenas’ showing.
Fans of the show, as well as new viewers who were tuning in for the first time, struggled to comprehend how the Match of the Day and The One Show regular managed to bag himself yet another TV gig. Among the Twitter responses included @JRsArmchair who said that “Jermaine Jenas would turn up to the opening of an envelope.”
@sophiehatts complained that “Jermaine Jenas gets where water can’t doesn’t he” while @D4NXIII agreed: “Christ, Jermaine Jenas gets where water can’t get. He’s on ITV #TheGames now.” @charleybordman asked “Is there anything on TV that Jermaine Jenas hasn’t been on?” and @Kev7McGhee stated “Jermaine Jenas has a great agent. He’s on everything! #TheGames.”
As for Thompson’s guest appearance, this Tweet sums up the high regard that he’s held in among those who tuned in:
