ITV’s Laura Woods mistakenly kissed ‘Bronzed Adonis’ darts champion on the lips

ITV presenter Laura Woods has revealed that she was once left red-faced after mistakenly kissing darts world champion Steve Beaton, also known as the “Bronzed Adonis”, on the lips at the end of an interview.

The popular star, 36, who has been covering the Women’s World Cup for ITV, recalled the embarrassing exchange on the Happy Hour Podcast.

She recalled the moment when she had just finished interviewing Steve Beaton, the former world No1 and 1996 BDO world champ.

“If you don’t know who Steve Beaton is, he’s called the Bronzed Adonis,” she explained.

“He is a beautiful man and he spent his whole career being an absolute heart-throb in the world of darts, which doesn’t sound difficult, does it?

“When I finished the interview, I went, ‘Thank you so much’ and I went to shake his hand, he went for a cuddle.”

She continued: “Because he’d gone for a cuddle, I like put my arms around him and almost went for a kiss on the cheek.

“He then realised I was for the kiss so he turned and we kissed on the lips.

“I was like, ‘Oh my God, what have I done?’ He was like the holy grail and I’d poisoned it.

“Anyway, I realised and I went back into the truck, sat down and the guys were like, ‘Are you alright?’

“I had my head in my hands and was like, ‘I just kissed the Bronzed Adonis on the mouth and I felt his beard.’

“I felt like I’d done the worst thing in the world but now I revel in that,” she added good-naturedly.

Earlier this month, Laura was announced as TNT Sports’ lead presenter for the Champions League.

The sports media presenter, who has previously worked for the likes of talkSPORT, Sky Sports, and ITV, is now heading up a woman-fronted presenting team for TNT Sports’ football properties.
