IT Ministry Responds To PIL About Potential BGMI Ban

BGMI is slowly and steadily reaching the benchmark that was created by PUBG mobile in India, and the players are there for it. PUBG became the leading mobile gaming application in India until it was banned in the country along with several other Chinese applications. Due to the ban laid on PUBG, a new Indian variant for the game, Battlegrounds Mobile India was released for the Indian gaming market.

BGMI had been going steady until it was slapped with a PIL (Public Interest Litigation) to be banned as it has been alleged that BGMI is the same application as PUBG, but has been operating under a different name. Since then, this accusation has been discredited by N. Samaya Balan, a representative for the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology told the Telangana Hight Court that Battlegrounds Mobile India and PUBG are two different applications.

The PIL was filed by Advocate Anil Stevenson Jangam, alleging that the new application still had ties with its Chinese makers. PUBG was banned in India due to the relationship it had with Tencent, which is a Chinese company. According to the case filed, it was suggested that BGMI should be banned as it still has its ties with Tencent and has Krafton as a publisher and the application remains as it was, barring a few cosmetic changes. A request for a ban on BGMI was imposed as it still holds all the dangers that were posed to children and adolescents.

All the BGMI players can rejoice as the statement by the MeitY representative clears any doubts of BGMI being the same application as PUBG. The players can play their beloved battle royale game at peace as BGMI isn’t going to be banned in the near future. This also comes as great news to many because India recently banned Garena Free Fire along with 50 other Chinese applications, losing one more game would be disheartening for many.
