BRITAIN’S dirtiest drivers have shared snaps of their filthy cars – and there’s a warning for anyone who felt a jolt of recognition.

Unrepentant Louise Duffy, who lives in Manchester, has claimed the dubious honour of the nation’s messiest vehicle.

Photos taken inside her car show crumbs and debris, children’s car seats piled high with shopping bags and a single high-heeled boot.

The 32-year-old said she’s thrilled to have won the Euro Car Parts competition.

“I am delighted beyond belief,” she said.

“While some people might not be happy to claim this title, I certainly am. 

“The car gets so messy because of my happy kids, who apparently know where everything is, which makes for lots of chaos.”

Eddie Eames, of Paisley, Scotland, was also in the top 10.

The footwell of the passenger seat is absolutely filled with junk.

The 32-year-old is apparently a huge caffeine fan – much of the litter is either disposable coffee cups or drinks cans.

And Ashley Godfrey, who lives in Horsham, West Sussex appears to be using his car more for storage than transport.

The back seat is completely packed with clothing, shoes, boxes and even a clothes horse – making it impossible for him to pick up a passenger.

However, Brits have been warned they could face an on-the-spot £100 fine and even three points for keeping a messy car.

There’s no specific fixed penalty notice for untidiness.

However, too much litter could fall under the driving without due care and attention law.

More serious cases can go to court and result in a £2,500 fine and disqualification.

Helen Robinson of Euro Car Parts said: “Cleaning out your car can often fall to the bottom of your list of jobs.

“We’re sure that for many, these images may be a familiar sight.

“Giving your car a clean from time to time means you and your passengers will have a safer and more pleasant driving experience.

“We recommend cleaning the inside of your car fairly regularly, especially now that many vehicles aren’t being used as often, as unpleasant smells may build up.”

She said winner Louise was awarded cleaning products.

“We hope that the cleaning bundle helps Louise keep her car in sparkling condition from now on,” she said.

It’s just as important to keep the outside of your vehicle squeaky clean.

A dirty windscreen is not only dangerous, but can also lead to points and a fine under the careless driving law.

Mucky mirrors can also limit your vision, and also seen you fined the same amount.

And obscured number plates can lead to fines of up to £1,000 if the digits can’t clearly be read.
