Is it safe to travel to Turkey?

Most of Turkey is safe to visit as a tourist.

There are just a few locations that the UK government advise against travelling to, which includes the border with Syria.

It is also advised against visiting Sirnak or the province of Hakkari.

However, the popular holiday resorts such as Bodrum, Antalya and Istanbul remain safe for tourists.

There is also a warning in regard to alcoholic drinks in the country which are often stronger than the UK.

Anyone drinking in Turkey should drink within their limits and keep an eye on their drinks to avoid being spiked.

Make sure to also have a copy of your passport as some villas in holiday resorts have been targeted by thieves.

This should be carried with you at all times – it is illegal not to carry some form of photographic ID in Turkey.

Brits also need to have at least 150 days left on their passport to be able to travel to Turkey, as well as a full blank page for entry and exit stamps.

Can you travel to Turkey unvaccinated?

All Covid restrictions for Turkey were lifted last summer.

This means Brits do not have to be vaccinated or have a negative Covid test.

This could change at short notice so Brits with holidays booked are advised to check the entry restrictions before they travel.
