IPL 2023 KKR vs LSG: Pooran, de Kock help Super Giants score 176 runs

Playing in the 69th match of Indian Premier League to seal the second spot for playoffs, Kolkata Knight Riders is facing Lucknow Super Giants at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

It is the final chance for both the teams to seal their spots for the third position in the play-offs, defending champions Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings have reserved their seat already.

For both the teams, it a must win match, as KKR is at the 7th spot, while LSG is at the 3rd spot in the IPL points table. Also, RCB, RR and MI are trying their best to seal the rest two spots.

After winning the toss, Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Nitish Rana opted to bowl first against Lucknow Super Giants tonight, knowing fairly that batting has been an issue with the team. In return, LSG scored 176 runs after losing 8 wickets in 20 overs. 

LSG Innings:

In absence on injured KL Rahul, Krunal Pandya is leading the LSG and is aiming a playoff berth.

Opening at the Eden Gardens, the LSG batters seemed to struggle from the very beginning. Its opener Karan Sharma (3) was departed in the third over by Harshit Rana.

Following this Quinton de Kock (28) and Prerak Mankad (26) built a small partnership. However, it was broken by Vaibhav Arora in the 7th over when he dismissed Prerak Mankad. Following this, in the same over, Marcus Stoinis departed by Arora without opening his account.

Skipper Krunal Pandya did try to manage, was was sent back by Sunil Narine in the 10th over. In the following over, Varun Chakravarthy took the wicket of Quinton de Kock, by bowling a googly and was caught by Andre Russell.

With this, LSG sent Ayush Badoni (28) and power hitter Nicholas Pooran (58), who gave fuel to the scorecard.

In the 18th and the 19th over both Badoni and Pooran were dismissed by Narine and Shardul Thakur.

By the end of 20 overs, LSG managed to score 176 runs after losing 8 wickets.

For KKR, Sunil Narine, Shardul Thakur and Vaibhav Arora took 2 wickets each, while, Harshit Rana and Varun Chakravarthy clinched one wicket each.
