iPhone loophole saves you from embarrassing nightmare – don’t take a chance
ALL iPhone owners should consider using a clever feature that can save you from major embarrassment.
It’s totally free to use and is built into your iPhone by default.
There’s a clever feature that lets you lock away photos from prying eyes.
Of course there are plenty of reasons to want to hide an iPhone photo.
Maybe you’ve taken a weight loss photo, a saucy snap, an image of a personal medical condition, a gift idea for a loved one, or a screenshot of a private message.
Whatever the reason, you don’t want someone accidentally stumbling on personal images if they handle your phone.
It’s also a great trick if you’ve got young children that regularly pick up your smartphone.
Apple doesn’t offer a standard way of locking your Photos app – beyond your regular iPhone Lock Screen.
But there’s a loophole: in-app locking.
It’s actually possible to lock down a folder inside the Photos app, which can be just as useful.
How to lock photos on iPhone
The locking feature was only added in the latest iOS update.
So you need to check that you have iOS 16 by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
Then go to Settings > Photos and make sure Use Face ID is turned on.
This will force anyone using your iPhone to pass a Face ID check to view the Hidden Album.
Now you’ll want to start adding private photos to the Hidden album.
Go to your Photos reel, tap Select and choose some images.
Then tap the three-dot button and tap Hide.
Now you’ll be able to find the images tucked away inside the Photos app, in Albums > Hidden.
This folder will be inaccessible unless you can get through the lock.
And it will re-lock automatically as soon as you leave.
You can un-hide photos at any time.
It’s also possible to hide the Hidden photo album by going back into Settings > Photos.
