MILLIONS of drivers can activate a special focus mode on iPhone.

It’s called Driving Focus and it’s designed for use when you’re behind the wheel of a car.

You can set it to automatically activate when you’re in a moving car.

And it will temporarily change several key settings while you’re driving around.

“Turning on the Driving Focus helps you stay focused on the road,” Apple explained.

“When you turn it on, text messages and other notifications are silenced or limited.

“You can have Siri read replies to you, so you don’t have to look at your iPhone.

“Incoming calls are allowed only when iPhone is connected to CarPlay – a car Bluetooth system – or a hands-free accessory.”

But there’s an important warning that you need to be mindful of.

Apple says you can’t just rely on Driving Mode for total safety.

You should still be mindful of local laws, safety rules and common sense.

“The Driving Focus is not a substitute for following all the rules that prohibit distracted driving,” Apple warned.

How to turn on Driving Focus

To set up automatic Driving Focus, go to Settings > Focus.

Then tap on Driving, and then turn on Driving.

Tap Focus Status and then turn on Share Focus Status.

Now tap Auto-Reply and choose who should get an auto-reply when Driving Focus is on.

This might be No One, Recents, Favorites, and All Contacts.

You can also customize the auto-reply message.

Now go back and tap While Driving, and choose when to activate Driving.

You’ve got a few options:

  • Automatically: This is when iPhone detects that you might be driving.
  • When Connected to Car Bluetooth
  • Manually (you need to turn it on in Control Center)
  • Activate With CarPlay (when iPhone is connected to CarPlay)

You may receive the Driving notification when you’re in a car as a passenger.

Simply tap I’m Not Driving to dismiss the location.

“When the Driving Focus is on and you’re a passenger in a moving car, you can receive calls, messages, and notifications,” Apple explained.

Remember to use this iPhone hack with caution and don’t totally rely on it for your driving safety.
