International Civil Aviation Day 2022: International Civil Aviation Day is being observed globally today, on December 7, 2022. As we all know that aviation industry has become so huge and has a great impact on our lives. This day is celebrated to remember that how travelling world wide have become so easy and to raise awareness of the importance and contributions that airline industry has made in all the sectors.
International Civil Aviation Day 2022: Significance
International Civil Aviation Day was established in 1994 at the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Convention on International Civil Aviation by the International Civil Aviation Organization. In 1996, the United Nations General Assembly declared this day to be observed as International Civil Aviation Day.
ICAO was established on 7th December 1944. During the same year, the International Services Transit Agreement and the International Air Transport Agreement were also signed.
The purpose of International Civil Aviation Day is to help generate and reinforce worldwide awareness of the importance of international civil aviation to the social and economic development of States, and of the unique role of ICAO in helping States to cooperate and realize a truly global rapid transit network at the service of all mankind. On this day ICAO hosts a variety of activities and events like seminars, informative sessions, and news announcements regarding civil aviation topics amongst many others.
The motive of celebrating International Civil Aviation Day is to make people realize the role of ICAO and it works with other UN members World Health Organization, World Meteoreological Organization and International Maritime Organization etc.

This year, ICAO has decided the theme of International Civil Aviation Day is “Advancing Innovation for Global Aviation Development” till 2023. In every five years the ICAO announce a special anniversary theme for this global day.
