‘Inspired!’: Best pub in Britain named – did your local come top?
The tiny Sussex village of Bromeswell lies two miles from Woodbridge. On the outskirts of the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the village has a claim to fame.
The Good Pub Guide has just named The Unruly Pig, located in the village, as the best pub in Britain for food.
Head chef Dave Wall is an alumnus of Gordon Ramsay and the menu is seasonal British food with an Italian twist.
The pub offers over 60 different wines, 30 gins, beers and ales.
But the food is what the pub is being praised for.

The Good Pub Guide notes that its readers have described the pub’s food as “inspired” and “impeccable”.
The pub was named the guide’s Dining Pub of the Year 2021.
A typical main dish at the pub is “whole grilled bream, brown crab hollandaise, tomato salad.”
The pub has a set menu, a Saturday brunch and the all important Sunday roasts, as well as an à la carte menu.
DON’T MISS
Pub-goers should look for dishes such as burratina with lovage and parsley pesto or duck liver parfait.
Other noteworthy dishes include octopus with nduja ravioli, ink and miso dressing and braised beef shin ragout with bucatini pasta and parmesan.
There is also a risotto with courgette, basil, tomato, black olives and mozzarella.
It’s not all about fancy food as Britons can also get various burgers at the pub.
Part of it is a designated Conservation Area and the council notes the “village benefits from the first ‘Quiet Lane’ designation aimed at encouraging the safe use of its lanes by pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders”.
The village offers easy access to Bromeswell Green Nature Reserve, a seven hectares reserve with saltmarsh, woodland and wet meadows.
