Inside Charles’ iconic £14m car collection – including £10m Bentley

KING Charles has an impressive car collection worthy of a monarch which is thought to be valued at £14million and includes an exclusive £10m Bentley.

Along with the state limousine there’s a fancy Range Rover and his environmental credentials are in assured with a bioethanol car.

King Charles III became the country’s monarch following the sad death of his mother Queen Elizabeth and is set to be crowned at Westminster Abbey on May 6 when the country celebrating over a long bank holiday weekend.

Over the years, the Royal Family have been seen behind the wheel of some of the most iconic British cars and some of the most expensive are thought to belong to Charles.

Research carried out by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts indicates that Charles owns two of the most expensive vehicles in the royal fleet.

Bentley state limousine

There are two official Bentleys used as state vehicles and two of the most exclusive Bentleys in the world.

They come with an eye-watering price of £10million.

The British luxury car manufacturer only ever made two of them, specifically for his his late mother for her Golden Jubilee in 2002.

These are thought to be kept securely at the Royal Mews ready for service whenever needed.

They are modified versions of the Bentley Arnage, with both of them longer and taller than the standard design.

They are fitted with extras that James Bond would be proud of – fully armoured bodywork and glass, blast-resistant tyres and blue flashing lights.

If that wasn’t enough, at the push of a button the whole interior of the vehicle can be sealed air-tight, in case of a gas attack.

Aston Martin DB6 Volante

Also in Charles’ collection is a stunning 1965 Aston Martin DB6 Volante, valued at around £1m.

The car was a gift from Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip for Charles’ 21st birthday.

The flash motor is famously said to be “powered by wine and cheese” after Charles, then the Prince of Wales, had it converted to run on bioethanol in 2008 to make it more environmentally friendly.

It’s thought the car uses around four and a half bottles of wine for every mile travelled.

Aston Martin V8 Vantage Volante

Charles is thought to own a second Aston Martin, this V8 Vantage Volante is valued at considerably less than the DB6 bit still worth a cool £550,000.

The flash convertible is a 1994 model and Charles was seen giving it a spin at the Cirencester Park Polo Club on July 21, 2005.

The Golden State Coach

This could very well be the world oldest and exclusive vehicle.

It was commissioned for £7,562 during the reign of King George III and is now said to be worth £1,627,011 in today’s money.

It has been given an outing at every coronation since 1831.

It’s due to transport Charles and his wife Queen Camilla in a procession from Westminster Abbey to Buckingham Palace on coronation day.

The gilded coach will be drawn by eight Windsor Grey horses on the big  day and, “due to its weight” of almost 4.5 tons, “will travel at walking pace.”

There are a number of other impressive cars known to be in the royal fleet although it is not clear which royal actually owns them.

Included in the list are a Rolls-Royce Phantom VI valued at just under £500,000, a Bentley Bentayga with a price tag of £160,000 and a Range Rover LWB Landaulet worth £106,00.

Coming in with a much more reasonable price are a Jaguar XE at £32,205, a Land Rover Defender costing £30,00 and also coming in at the same value, a Daimler V8 Super LWB.
