Inside £900k gold-plated SUV with guns and cigars but not whale-foreskin seats
WITH the number of crazy hypercars on sale these days, it’s more difficult than ever for the rich to turn heads on the high street.
But this Latvian SUV should do the trick; it’s called the Dartz Prombron The Dictator Aladeen Edition MMXXII. Catchy.
It’s based on one of the most luxurious SUVs you can buy – a Mercedes-Maybach GLS which already costs £170,000.
Dartz then takes that car’s 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine and tunes it up to a staggering 800hp.
That means this three-tonne beast can get from 0-62mph in just 3.8 seconds and cruise at 174mph – if you can find somewhere legal to do it.
Dartz then creates its own bodywork, which from these images you can see is, err, unique.
But unlike many gold wraps you see on supercars on Instagram, this Dartz is genuinely gold-plated.
Most people will be relieved to hear that Dartz is no longer taking the leather for its seats from whale foreskins.
It had announced it was to do this to the world but faced a huge backlash from wildlife organisations and the public, so decided against it.

Nevertheless, its cabin is still hugely luxurious and even features a fingerprint-operated gun safe, humidor for your cigars and somewhere to keep a sword.
Dartz reckons there are 550 different kinds of wood to choose from for your interior and buttons made from gold are on the options list.
You can also opt for a custom helmet to wear while driving or lounging in the back and a bulletproof umbrella made from alligator or python skin.
Three Aladeen Editions were made for the 2012 film The Dictator, but it proved so popular Dartz started offering them for sale.
All cars are bulletproof as standard, but your can upgrade your car to withstand grenades and mines, taking the price to £900,000.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of The Dictator, Dartz is offering another 10 Aladeens, but has said if there’s enough interest it will build more.
