Inside 5-star castle set for Biden stay – with secret staircases & celeb guests
US President Joe Biden will kick off his five-day trip to Ireland next month – and he’s set to stay in a luxurious castle.
The American leader will start off his Irish visit with a trip to Belfast to mark the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement before travelling to Dublin, where he will meet President Michael D Higgins.
During his travels, Biden is expected to use five-star Dromoland Castle in Co Clare as his base.
Senior sources have indicated that he will fly around the country in his Marine One helicopter from there.
The “magical address” has been welcoming guests since the 16th century and is the ancestral home of the O’Briens of Dromoland, whose lineage dates back 1,000 years to Brian Boru, one of the last High Kings of Ireland.
From the imposing baronial façade to its stunning interiors, guests are treated to an abundance of historic grandeur underpinned by the “finest modern comforts”.
With lavish decor, indulgent dining, fabulous views and magnificent bedrooms, Dromoland Castle is sure to pull out all the stops to make the president feel at home.
The hotel is home to a world-class golf course where Biden may have some time to catch up with old friends.
ROOMS WITH SECRET STAIRCASES
From lakeside look-outs to sumptuous suites, canopied beds to breakfast-in-bed, bubble baths to lazy lie-ins and secret staircases to love nests, each room at Dromoland Castle has been designed to meet royal approval.
Each room is filled with sumptuous furnishings, exquisite bathrooms, relaxing colour schemes, inviting beds and beautiful views, meticulously coordinated to exceed guests’ expectations.

The premier suite is intimate and luxurious and has a glamorous, soothing duck egg and gold palette, which is carried through from the lavish sitting room to the spacious bedroom with its magnificent four-poster bed, chandeliers and separate dressing room.
The suite offers sweeping views over Dromoland Lough and across the estate.
Its impressive bathroom includes a double shower room and a freestanding slipper bath that’s just perfect for a soak before dinner.

A one-night stay in the lavish Brian Boru suite costs around €3,100, while a standard suite costs around €2,300 per night.

Setting the standard for dining, David blends classical training with a flair for the contemporary, delivering excellent food.
The castle’s landmark restaurant, the Earl of Thomond, is home to fabulous food and silver service and will undoubtedly be visited by Biden.
