Inquest opens into man, 25, stabbed to death outside home

An inquest has opened following the death of a 25-year-old Bolton man as a result of stab wounds.

Tyrone Joseph Williamson passed away at the Manchester Royal Infirmary on Saturday, December 11 following a fight outside his home in Battenberg Road.

Opening the inquest, senior coroner for Manchester West Timothy Brennand was told that pathologist Dr Naomi Carter said the cause of death was stab wounds Tyrone’s chest and abdomen.

Police coroner’s officer Benjamin Dobbs said that Tyrone was involved in an ‘altercation’ outside his home and was stabbed multiple timesy.

Tyrone was rushed to the Manchester Royal Infirmary but died a 8.16pm on the same day as the attack.

PC Dobbs said the police investigation into the incident was ongoing.

Mr Brennand set a date for a full review of the evidence on March 11, but has asked for an up-date on the police investigation in the next 28 days.

He has also asked for statements from Tyrone’s GP, Manchester Royal Infirmary and Greater Manchester Police by Friday, March 4.

Meanwhile, floral tributes outside Tyrone’s home have continued to grow.
