Influencer’s ‘real’ bikini pic amid Celeste Barber backlash
Tammy Hembrow has been praised for sharing a “raw” snap after being accused of setting a “dangerous” body standard by Celeste Barber.
Tammy Hembrow has been praised after sharing a series of “real” bikini snaps just four weeks after giving birth.
The fitness influencer recently welcomed her third child Posy, her first with partner Matt Poole.
Despite appearing to be basking in the early days of motherhood, the Gold Coast woman has copped criticism over claims she’s promoting an unrealistic image of a woman’s post-baby body.
However comedian Celeste Barber was slammed for labelling Tammy’s recent photos – which showed her flat stomach just days after having a baby – “dangerous”.
Now Tammy appears to have taken another swipe at the furore, sharing a series of photos that fans have praised for being “raw” and “real”.
“Homebody. 4 weeks Postpartum,” the 28-year-old captioned the snaps.
In the three photos, the mum-of-three can be seen posing is her living room while wearing a green khaki swimsuit.
“You are absolutely goals. Every single day. Before during and after pregnancy,” one fan wrote.
“Love that last photo. Embracing your post-partum body,” another said.
Another said: “That body grew Life! Rocking it Tammy.”
Others thanked the mum for sharing a “real” photo, while many labelled the photos “unreal” and “stunning”.
“Gorgeous so proud of your body for making that beautiful baby girl,” one wrote.
“The last pic is so raw & actually realistic thank u for that,” another agreed.
There were also many who defended Tammy after being criticised by Celeste Barber, stating her “impressive” post-baby body comes after putting in lots of work before falling pregnant.
“Result of years of consistent hard work,” one woman stated.
“If you want to look like this AFTER you have babies then you need to look like this BEFORE you have babies. So sick of Tammy being bagged out for being ‘unrealistic’ when she’s literally put in the hard work for it,” another added.
The new photos come just a few days after Celeste Barber’s comments backfired, resulting in the comedian being blasted.
While initially many agreed with Celeste, the tidal wave of backlash changed direction when Tammy responded to the comments last week.
Shared a photo of herself in lingerie she wrote: “this body created life x 3”.
In the comments section, she then added: “And I’ll wear whatever I want @celestebarber.”
The fitness influencer – who has over 15 million followers – later deleted her clapback, but not before it had been picked up by eagle-eyed fans and widely circulated.
It prompted an avalanche of support for the new mum, with some even claiming Celeste – who is best known for her parodies of supermodels – is a “bully”.
“Celeste has always trashed other women, it became old very quickly. If you’re [sic] whole image is mocking others how do you then tell another influencer what is best for women?” one woman argued.
“She does nothing but mock and pull the piss out of other women. She doesn’t create a safe space for anyone and I’m glad she’s been called out. About time,” another said.
Another added: “Completely agree. Celeste is funny, but making fun of women who’s jobs it is to flaunt their bodies online (models, influencers etc) is body shaming. Spoof something new, maybe?”
The backlash backflip came after Celeste argued Tammy was peddling a “dangerous” message to fans about how their bodies should look after birth.
“Women should NEVER feel as though they need to put on activewear and show off their bodies, to prove a point ESPECIALLY 12 days after having a baby. 12 DAYS!,” Celeste posted to her Instagram story.
“Jeez I was sh***ing in a bag and screaming into a pillow after having my babies. How we look is irrelevant.
“Be kind to yourselves, moisturise your nipples and unfollow accounts that make you feel like sh*t!”
Tammy had attempted to quell the backlash in her post by acknowledging people shouldn’t compare themselves to others.
“I stayed as active as possible before and during my pregnancy on my @tammyhembrowfitness programs,” she wrote in her now controversial post.
“I honestly feel like my core was at its best in my whole life just before I fell pregnant with Posy so I’m excited to see what I can do this time round after baby number 3! Can’t wait to get into some hard and heavy TammyFit at 6 weeks [post-partum].”
She continued: “We all have different genes, different lifestyles, different circumstances etc,” she said.
“That being said, I work and have worked extremely had and want nothing more than to motivate and inspire you.”
