Infinity Ward Is Hiring a Narrative Director for an Open-World RPG Project
It seems like Infinity Ward is up to something unique either for the Call of Duty series or a new IP, but anyway, it sounds pretty exciting for gamers!
We have always known Infinity Ward for its Call of Duty titles. Actually, the studio has never made anything other than Call of Duty games so far, and to be honest, they have been always quite successful with their titles under Activision.

Despite the studio’s huge talent in shaping up the Modern Warfare series inside the Call of Duty universe, Infinity Ward has never been given the chance to work on another genre, or at least another shooter.
As a result, when you spot a job listing on the studio’s webpage pointing out at an unannounced RPG title, you must be surprised!
Infinity Ward Has An Unannounced RPG Project in the Pipeline
A job listing for Infinity Ward’s branch in Poland clearly indicates that they need a narrative director who can “provide the best narrative and cinematic experienced in an open-world RPG.” The job listing also mentions this game as an “unannounced AAA project.”
So, we can surely say that Infinity Ward is up to something big, but the main question is what this unannounced project could be? Is it a brand new IP or just something new set in the Call of Duty universe?
There is a small possibility that this could be related to Call of Duty Warzone 2 if Infinity Ward decides to make some essential changes in the Battle Royale experience and add some RPG elements, however, it really doesn’t sound like Warzone 2 as it has been already confirmed to be launched later this year.
Some gamers believe that this is one of the early effects of the Microsoft acquisition as they are greenlighting studios to go beyond their safe zones, but legally, Microsoft cannot direct any Activision-Blizzard studios at the moment as long as the deal is not confirmed by the officialls.
Unfortunately, we don’t have a clear answer for this mysterious Infinity Ward project, but we are definitely excited to see what the studio is preparing for gamers after Modern Warfare 2.
Maybe the studio is just branching out into multiple teams working on multiple projects. Previously, we heard some rumors claiming that Modern Warfare 2 could the last yearly release for the Call of Duty franchise.
