India vs West Indies ODI: Flight delay leaves Team India unhappy; players want better travel planning from BCCI
After Team India won the Test series with a 1-0 result, its players had to travel from Trinidad to Barbados, but the erratic travel plans left them miffed. Rohit Sharma led-squad was supposed to catch a flight at 11 pm from Trinidad, but the flight was delayed by 4 hours, and the side managed to reach their destination by 5 am only, which means they hardly got any time to sleep, which is a must for sportsmen to recuperate, especially after an energy-sapping grind of the Test Series.
“They had left the hotel by 8:40 pm for the airport and had to wait for a long time at the airport. The team management has requested us to book a morning flight instead of late night flights as players want some rest post game. The BCCI has agreed to it and is planning to revise the next schedule,” a source in the BCCI informed.
Due to the flight delay, top players have now requested the Indian team management for a day off from practice in Barbados.
The Indian Team will lock horns with the West Indies in two ODI’s in Bridgetown and Barbados on July 27 and 29 respectively, and then fly back to Trinidad on 29th to play their scheduled third ODI on August 1.
Players who have joined the likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for the ODI squad are Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Sanju Samson and Umran Mallik.
