‘Incredibly exciting’: Wallabies gun inks new deal
Star scrumhalf Jake Gordon has re-committed to Australian rugby, signing a two-year contract extension that ties him down until the end of 2025.
Gordon joins a growing list of Wallabies to ink new deals tying him to Australia recently, with the British and Irish Lions tour providing a carrot to hang around beyond this year’s World Cup in Paris.
“It’s an incredibly exciting time for Australian Rugby and something that I’m desperate to continue to be a part of,” Gordon said.
“We’ve got a World Cup this year and a home British and Irish Lions tour in 2025, so there’s no place I’d rather be to try and push my claims to wear Wallaby gold.”

Gordon, who made his Super Rugby debut in 2017, has gone on to represent the Waratahs 78 times, becoming the incumbent scrumhalf following his debut.
In 2021, he was appointed Waratahs captain, and has continued to excel at Super Rugby level, scoring 25 tries for the club so far.

“I’m really excited to be re-signing with the Waratahs and Australian Rugby for another two years,” Gordon added.
“I’ve been fortunate enough to play for this team for a number of years now and I believe that we have a group of players and coaches who are all committed to building something special here in New South Wales.”
Gordon played his debut Test for the Wallabies against Italy in 2018.

He has since become an established member of the national team set-up, playing 20 Tests, and is looking to impress new Wallabies coach Eddie Jones.
“Jake is an experienced player and to have him re-sign with Australian Rugby is positive,” Jones said in a statement.
“He is a leader at the Waratahs and someone who will be important for them throughout the Super Rugby season.”
Waratahs coach Darren Coleman echoed those sentiments, adding: “Jake is a fantastic player, and an even better person.
“He’s a natural leader and has done an exceptional job as our captain.
“We’re thrilled that he’s chosen to remain with the Waratahs for the next two years, and I’m excited to see what he can achieve with this group of players.”
